Introducing Batch 025: Appalachian Grist!
Appalachian Grist is a blend of three whiskey types (rye malt, wheat malt, bourbon) crafted entirely from grain grown in the Appalachian Valley region. Made with malts produced by our friends at Riverbend Malt House in Asheville, NC, each mash bill contains between 45-85% malted grains – all lightly kilned to retain the intrinsic characteristics of the grain. The result is a blend that showcases characteristics from each whiskey style and the collective impacts of terroir over each part of the process, grain-to-glass.
Mash Bills: Straight Rye Malt Whiskey (2-grain), Straight Wheat Malt Whiskey (2-grain), Straight Bourbon Whiskey (3-grain)
Grains: Carolina Rye Malt, Appalachian Wheat Malt, Southern Select Barley Malt, Heritage Barley Malt, Yellow Dent Corn
Grain Sources: TN, NC, VA
Age of Blend: 4 years
Proof: 102 (51% Alc/Vol)
Cooperage: Toasted & Charred Oak, 53 gallon
