Traditional Whiskey Smash

1 1/2 oz Chatt Whiskey

2 Lemon Wheels

6-7 Mint Leaves

1/2 oz Simple Syrup

Muddle 2 lemon wheels and mint leaves in a glass, add simple syrup, whiskey, ice and stir.

Smash Variations

Traditionally made with lemon and mint, Smashes are a great versatile cocktail that can be made with any combination of fruit (even frozen fruit!) and herbs. Below are a few recommendations from our bartenders, but feel free to sub with anything you have in your pantry!

Cucumber Smash

1 1/2 oz Chatt Whiskey

2 Slices Cucumber

5-6 Mint Leaves

1/2 oz Lime Juice

1/2 oz Simple Syrup

Blackberry Sage Smash

1 1/2 oz Chatt Whiskey

3-4 Blackberries

2-3 Sage leaves

Lemon wheel

1/2 oz Simple Syrup

Chattanooga Mule

1.5 oz Chatt Whiskey

.5 oz Lime Juice

.5 oz Ginger Syrup (recipe below)

1 dash Angostura Bitters

Ginger Beer

Add whiskey, ginger syrup and lime juice into a mug. Fill mug with ginger beer and top with ice. Garnish with a few dashes of angostura bitters and a lime wheel.

For a quick version, omit syrup and bitters.

Homemade Ginger Syrup

2 oz Ginger, peeled and chopped

1 cup White Sugar

1/2 cup Water

Combine all ingredients into heat safe pot and put on stove using medium to medium high heat stirring occasionally until sugar is completely dissolved. Remove from heat and allow ginger to infuse until syrup is completely cool. Strain out ginger using cheese cloth or a fine strainer.

Simple Syrup substitutes

There are a few alternatives to using simple syrup.  Agave nectar is a favorite at our bar, and molasses or honey are two other great substitutes.

You can also omit the simple syrup entirely.

Old Fashioned

2 oz Chatt Whiskey Cask 111

½ oz Simple Syrup

3 Dashes Angostura Bitters

1 Dash Orange Bitters

1 Cherry

3 Orange Peels

In a mixing glass, muddle 3 orange peels, a cherry and the bitters. Add simple syrup and whiskey. Add ice to mixing glass and stir well. Strain into a rocks glass containing ice and garnish with an orange peel.
