Since opening our Experimental Distillery in 2015, every drop of spirit made by our grain-to-glass distilling team has flowed through Vendome Copper stills.
Since the early 1900s, Vendome’s team of engineers, fabricators and designers have merged art & science – installing thousands of showpiece stills across the United States of America – custom-crafting each one to suit the goals of the distillery.
Our Experimental Pot Still – Built to Innovate
Commissioned in 2015, our 100 gallon, 8 inch, 4 plate Experimental pot still (known as ‘Doc’) was crafted to maintain precise control over the batch distillation process – thereby giving our distillers much more freedom to experiment and explore. Over 2 years of experimentation (2015-2017) this small still filled over 100 unique barrels of whiskey – developing and refining our own unique style of whiskey called Tennessee High Malt. Today, Doc continues to push the boundaries of craft whiskey, distilling everything from whiskey, to brandy to amari – releasing more than 100 unique single batches & barrels to date.
Our Riverfront Column Still – Built to Scale
Commissioned in 2017, our “continuous” column system was custom-crafted to scale our favorite recipes from our Experimental Distillery. The column – which stands at 30ft and 14 inches in diameter – was sized to distill nearly 50x the amount of whiskey made by our Experimental pot still. Containing 18 plates of distillation surface and a custom-designed doubler, our column still was carefully engineered to create a spirit with an everyday quality, and a signature, “Chattanooga Whiskey” complexity.
